The Art of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man documents Marvel Animation’s development of the first season of the Disney+ animated series created by Jeff Trammell. With a style and aesthetic that combines the vintage comic book art of Steve Ditko with a distinctly modern depiction of Peter Parker’s New York City, the series explores the unique challenges of balancing friendships, schoolwork, and internships while coming to terms with the realities of life as a superhero. Under the tutelage of Norman Osborn, Peter dons a number of suits and takes on hordes of street level villains outfitted by Doctor Octopus and has run-ins with familiar heroes like Doctor Strange and Daredevil—this is Spider-man as you’ve never seen him before. Interviews with key creatives accompany sketches, storyboards, character and costume designs, animation cels, and other ephemera from the making of the series.
