Wayne Bingham

Wayne Bingham is an architect, author, and photographer. He has practiced architecture for a wide variety of private and public buildings in the United States. As past President of AIA Salt Lake he was instrumental in developing and building the AIA Habitat For Humanity, Chairperson for Design for Life Workshops, Chairperson for the AIA Committee on the Environment. He also served as a Member and Chairperson of the State of Utah Uniform Building Codes Commission and a columnist for the Deseret News weekly articles "City Scape." He has made presentations on sustainable environments to American Institute of Architects, Utah State University, University of Utah, Bioneers in Bozeman, Mt, and the Sundance Nature Center. He is recipient of four architectural design awards and a 1997 Governor's award for Energy Efficiency in State Facilities. His work has been published in the Architectural Digest, Popular Science, Salt Lake Tribune, Intermountain Contractor, Deseret News, Nikkei Architecture, Utah Holiday Magazine, and Utah Architect Magazine.He served as The Building Program director for the State of Utah for ten years. He has co-authored three books: Small Strawbale, Strawbale Home Plans, and Natural Timber Frame Homes. Wayne and his wife, Colleen, are now living in their own strawbale home in Teton Valley, Idaho, during the summers and Salt Lake City in the winter. They travel widely and enjoy photographing and exploring indigenous architecture and sustainable living practices.
