Richard Avedon

Richard Avdeon (1923-2004) was one of the most influential photographers of the second half of the twentieth century. His portrait work comprises an authoritative record of his era. As a staff photographer for Harper's Bazaar and later for Vogue, Avedon redefined the fashion hotograph. In 1992, he was named the first staff photographer in the history of The New Yorker. His work apears in every major museum photography collection and his many books set a standard for photographic publishing.
