About the book
Now in paperback, this lavishly illustrated volume presents highlights from the V&A’s extensive collection of Japanese textiles and dress, one of the finest in the West.

Ranging from sumptuous embroidered kimonos and woven actors’ robes to the indigo-dyed textiles of rural Japan, Anna Jackson’s authoritative text elucidates the various techniques that have been employed by Japanese textile artists in the production of woven, printed, and embroidered textiles from the 17th century to the present day. Featuring spectacular, specially commissioned photographs with close-up details, Japanese Textiles is an invaluable visual resource.
