About the book
Reasons for loving golf run the gamut, from the philosophical to the inspirational. Golf shows us the role chance has in our lives, teaches us to be aware of our limits while aspiring to transcend them, and is a game of honor. The game offers more concrete pleasures as well: making your first eagle, getting a Big Bertha for Father's Day, or staying in a corner room at Russack's Hotel in St. Andrews with a view of the Old Course. Hubert Pedroli and Mary Tiegreen's 1,001 Reasons to Love Golf gathers all of these motivations and pleasures together with stunning images from the history of the game—the great courses and players and the best equipment and collectibles. Their observations are pithy and true. This rich visual journey through the complex game will captivate every golfer, from duffer to pro. - Great gift for novices and pros, men and women - Appealingly nostalgic design is coupled with contemporary as well as historical images - Authors are golf fanatics and have written three other books on golf

About the author
Like Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer, Mary Tiegreen took up the game of golf at the age of three. She has designed and co-authored a wide variety of books on such diverse subjects as women explorers, shoes, a magical French farmhouse called Pistoulet, and the family dog. She is the co-author of three golf books with husband Hubert Pedroli and hopes someday to master the elusive flop shot. Hubert Pedroli was bitten by the golf bug on the windswept links of Normandy. He moved to the United States in the late seventies, officially for business reasons, but the lure of abundant and beautiful golf courses loomed large in his decision. With life and golf partner Mary Tiegreen, Pedroli is the author of three previous golf books: Let the Big Dog Eat (William Morrow), The American Golfer's Guide (Turner), and A Passion for the Game of Golf (Andrews McMeel).
